Titanova Inc. has been awarded a Phase 1 SBIR through the Department of Energy in response to solicitation Topic No.58a for "Novel Diode Laser Cladding of High Temperature Alloys for Used in Ultrasupercritical Coal-Fired Boilers", Application Number, 85782S08-I. This project will develop direct diode laser systems and processes for purpose of cladding coal-fired boiler water walls. This development will result in improved clad material properties, a reduction in coal-fired boiler costs, an increase in boiler efficiencies, and the laser-cladding repair of our warfighter’s armored and critical support systems. This award was one out of 284 awarded out of 1,494 grant applications.

Titanova has been awarded a Phase 0 Early Stage Business Research and Development contract. This Project Title is the "Development direct diode lasers and processes for depot and in-the-field cladding repair of military equipment and critical infrastructure." This contract is through the Leonard Wood Institute [LWI]– Early Stage Business Research & Development Sub award Agreement. This Research Funding Provided through a Cooperative Agreement with the United States Army Research Laboratory (No. W911NF-07-2-0062), the Prime Award. Titanova, Inc was the very first recipient of a Phase 0 grant.

John Haake Starts Laser Job Shop, Titanova, Inc. John Haake has formed a new laser job shop Titanova, Inc. in the centrally located at 12724 Pennridge Dr. Bridgeton, MO 63044. John Haake, previously Director/Product Line Manger for Coherent/Nuvonyx Direct Diode Laser Systems [St. Louis, MO]. Mr. Haake started his career at McDonnell Douglas Laser Systems in the area of advanced diode based laser weapon systems under the "Star Wars" program and subsequently applied laser diode this technology for the purpose of advanced carbon composite structure fabrication. Mr. Haake co-founded Nuvonyx Inc in 1998 and was the primary driver towards the commercialization of high power industrial diode [semiconductor] lasers. Mr. Haake founded Titanova, Inc to provide industry with laser heat-treating, laser cladding and laser welding services Titanova, Inc is the most complete full service diode laser job shop in the nation. Titanova is schedule to become ISO-9000/2001 certified by Q1 2009.
